Ready, Set, Pitch – The Game Plan TV Show returns for a 3rd Season, Three new judges join the judging panel

The Game Plan TV Show is back for its 3rd Season! A new group of entrepreneurs are getting ready to impress the judges, win the vote and walk away with the top prize of K250, 000.00.
This season introduces three (3) new judges to the judging panel; Benjamin Katubiya CEO BUK Holdings, Jo Pope, Life Coach and Investor and Francis Musonda, Head Public Sector Banking, ZANACO who will join show veterans Charles Carey, CEO Cavmont Bank and Regina Mulenga, Retail & Business Banking Director, Barclays Bank.
The Game Plan will air on 6th, 11th and 12th October at 21hrs on ZNBC TV 1. The show will also air simultaneously on Nyamuka Zambia’s Social Media Channels.
The popular TV show is the final stage of the Nyamuka Zambia Business Plan Competition. All 10 NBC finalists will now be part of the unscripted TV show. During the show the finalists will pitch their business plans to a panel of Zambia’s top business leaders. The best business plan will win the top prize of K250, 000.00 as investment capital towards their business idea.
In the “Dragon’s Den ” style show, the Nyamuka finalists will have two (2) minutes to pitch their business idea to the judges . After each pitch the judges will have the opportunity to ask questions about the business. After hearing pitches from each of the 10 finalists, the judging panel will deliberate and select the business plans which will win the top five prizes. Every entrepreneur who gets through to the challenging final round is guaranteed a prize of at least K75, 000.
The finalist will have to hone their pitches, and will need to be convincing as the three new judges, two of them seasoned entrepreneurs, will also bring a new dynamic to the show:
Who is Benjamin Katubiya?
Benjamin Katubiya is founder and CEO of BUK Holdings Ltd, a company involved in retailing heavy duty truck spares, quarry mining, transport and logistics across Zambia. For the last 18 years, Benjamin has been at the helm of BUK Holdings growing it from an initial capital of $300 to a $30M enterprise. His company was named as the Best SME of the year 2009 and also emerged among the Top 15 companies in the Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship in 2010. He is an entrepreneur coach and leadership mentor appointed by The US Embassy in Zambia as a leadership and business mentor for the Mandela-Washington Fellows in 2014. He is also the Author of a book titled “The Winning Entrepreneur – The Blessing of Unemployment”
Speaking on his role as a judge on the Game Plan TV show, Mr Katubiya said that he is excited to join an eminent panel of judges and that his role is not just about judging their ‘business plans’ but helping them to realize their business potential.

“What I’m looking for from these finalist is individuals who can show that they understand and believe in their business plan. Individuals who are innovative and not just copying what everyone else is doing. Business that will use local resources and add value to various produce and resources from Zambia.”

Who is Francis Musonda?

Francis Musonda, Head Public Sector Banking at ZANACO has over 22 years of experience in the banking sector. A seasoned banker, Mr Musonda has a good track record of using sound analytical skills to competently manage various business functions in large corporate environments. Mr. Musonda will using his experience to assess whether the finalist have a bankable business plan.

Who is Jo Pope?

Jo Pope, investor and life coach, successfully built and sold Robin Pope Safaris, a well-established award winning Safari Company that she co-owned with husband Robin, in 2006. Jo always sees the bigger picture and while running Robin Pope Safaris, she worked to strengthen Zambia’s position as a tourism destination by bringing various players in the industry together. This led to her entering the aviation industry as an investor to ensure good air access to the developing tourism centres. An avid investor, Jo has spread her investment wings outside tourism, however, tourism and conservation remains in her bones.

On her role as a judge, Ms Pope said that she felt honored to contribute towards supporting young entrepreneurs starting on their journey.
In terms of what she brings to the judging panel, Ms. Pope says “ I have the ability to both look at the wider picture and go to the core of the matter.“
